Wellesley College captured the crown at the 2010 UMass Dartmouth
Shriners Cross Country Invitational on Saturday afternoon,
finishing first among 39 teams in the 5k race. The Blue
placed five runners in the top 15, as seven of eight Wellesley
varsity competitors recorded personal bests. Wellesley's
score of 41 edged out MIT's 45 points for the title.
Sophomore Randelle
Boots led the Blue, finishing second out of 290
runners with a time of 17:53, the third fastest 5k time in program
history. Cristina
Lucas, Molly
Shanley, and Camille
Basurto finished 10th, 11th, and 12th, with times of
18:24, 18:25, and 18:26, respectively, while Leah
Clement rounded out the scoring for Wellesley in 15th
with a time 18:36. Wellesley's top five average time of
18:20.80 is a school record.
Also contributing to a solid team performance, Jami-Lin
Williams finished 62nd (20:01) and Eliza
Tibbits in 98th (20:21).
The Blue return to action next Saturday at the Williams Purple
Valley Classic at 12:00pm.
