With wins over undefeated Connecticut College and a solid
DeSales University squad on Friday evening at Tufts University,
Wellesley Volleyball advanced to the Championship Bracket of the
MIT Invitational, to be held Saturday at MIT.
In the opening match, the Blue used a balanced attack to down
Connecticut College in a five-set thriller, 25-15, 25-22, 25-27,
17-25, 18-16 (Box
score). Three hitters racked up double-digit kills in the
win, led by Elizabeth Campbell with 17 kills and
ten digs. Isabel Custodio tallied 13 kills
while hitting .500 in the match, and Julia Adams added 10 kills. Victoria Peng distributed 26 assists in the win.
In the nightcap, the Blue downed DeSales University (PA) in four
sets, 25-22, 25-21, 16, 25, 25-23 (Box
score). Custodio and Kellyn O'Brady set the
pace at the net with 13 kills each. Peng recorded a
team-leading 27 assists and 12 digs in the win.
The Blue return to action tomorrow at noon, facing Springfield
College in the Championship Bracket Semifinals.
