Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Wellesley College volleyball team opened the 2012 Brandeis Invitational with a 3-0 victory over Rhode Island College on Friday evening at Auerbach Arena. The Blue (4-0) defeated the Anchorwomen (0-4) by set scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-12.
Wellesley was paced by Sydney Carfagno and Caitlin Laughlin who each notched seven kills in the match. Carfagno was particularly effective, hitting .600 while also adding six aces, six digs and two blocks in the contest.
Completing the offensive attack, Isabel Custodio recorded 21 assists and five kills, while Hilary Ayers picked up 15 assists.
Defensively, Traci Hamanaka picked up 18 digs, while Vivian Hu recorded 11.
Wellesley continues play in the Brandeis Invitational tomorrow, taking on Tufts at 12:00pm and Emmanuel at 2:00pm.
