#EarnTheW Day: Wellesley Fencing Set To Host Brandeis Tuesday at the KSC

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College fencing will welcome crosstown rival Brandeis University to the Keohane Sports Center's Multipurpose Gym on Tuesday evening, January 29th, at 7:00 PM. The event will be PERA's second #EarnTheW Day of 2018-19 with FREE pizza and giveaways for students and fans in attendance. 

In addition, sophomore sabre fencer Lauren Park will also be taking over the @wellesleyathletics Instagram account throughout the day on Tuesday to give a behind the scenes look into the team's preparation for their meet with Brandeis. Park is a Neuroscience major from Wayne, N.J. who is currently 33-14 on the season.

The Athletic Department is sponsoring free giveaways (while supplies last) at Tuesday's fencing meet:

  • FREE reusable hot/cold tumblers
  • FREE Wellesley fencing blue socks

The Blue fencing team is off to a 17-5 start to the season and returns to action on Tuesday evening for the first time since taking on Harvard and Tufts on December 4 in Cambridge. Wellesley has had a number of standout performers this season, including junior Brie Maurer (Fredericksburg, Va.) who is currently 50-13 in foil and sophomore Julia Calventus-Coveney (Barcelona, Spain) who is the top ranked epee fencer in the Northeast Fencing Conference with a 44-7 overall record and an undefeated mark in conference competitions.

Tuesday's fencing match will also be streamed live on wellesleyblue.com.
