Box Score

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Regis erased a two-set deficit in a 3-2, (19-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-19, 15-4) victory over Wellesley College volleyball on Wednesday at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.

Sophomore Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) paced the Pride (16-10) with 17 digs, while teammates Rita Dow (Nashua, N.H.) and Kate Montigny (Shrewsbury, Mass.) each had 12 kills. First year Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) had a single-game high 31 digs for the Blue (7-14) while junior Kate Salembier (Sierra Madre, Calif.) and sophomore Jennifer Yu (Shanghai, China) had a combined 29 kills.

The Blue had a strong first set with 15 kills and an impressive .313 hitting percentage. Salembier had 7 kills in the set for the Blue, leading the team to a convincing 25-19 set.

The Blue continued to play strong in the second set, taking an 18-12 lead on a service ace from Kunze-Hoeg. While Regis cut the lead to three at 21-18, a service ace from first year Kennedy Mayo (Long Branch, N.J.) and a kill from sophomore Rachel Xu (Beijing, China) guided the Blue to a 25-20 set.

The Pride regrouped in the third, with a seven-point run giving Regis a 14-10 lead. A kill from junior Ahnasia McKinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) pushed the Pride's lead to 17-11, and Wellesley never got back within five as a kill from Montigny finished a 25-19 set for Regis.

The fourth was even until late in the set, with the scored tied at 16-16 before Regis won three straight points. At 22-19 the Pride took advantage of a pair of errors and a kill from Tenorio to snag a 25-19 set, forcing a deciding fifth.

The Pride controlled the fifth set, winning the first eight points with three service aces from Tenorio. The Blue couldn't bring the lead within eight, with a service error giving Regis a 15-4 set and the match.

The Blue have a quick turnaround, with a 7:00 PM game at home against Salve Regina tomorrow night. The Pride head to Plymouth State for a tri-match with Eastern Connecticut State and Plymouth State on Saturday.
