WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics (PERA) in partnership with the Wellesley College Office of LGBTQ+ Programs and Services will host Trans-Non Binary Activism in the Boston Marathon with Cal Calamia on Thursday, April 20th from 7:00-8:30 PM in the Science Center Hub 101 Lecture Room.

Calamia (they/he), a transmasculine marathoner, poet, health educator, and inclusivity activist will visit campus just days after competing in the 2023 Boston Marathon on Monday, April 17. Calamia will run in wave one and wear bib number 5986 during the Boston Marathon. Students and members of the Wellesley College campus community interested in attending are asked to RSVP prior to the event.

After competing as a distance runner in high school and college, Calamia began a gender transition in 2018. This sparked his passion for creating a more gender-inclusive world through activism in the running industry. In 2022, Calamia became the first non-binary winner of San Francisco's Bay to Breakers and the San Francisco Marathon. Their story has been featured in The New York Times, Runner's World Magazine, PinkNews, Out Magazine, and many other outlets. Author of San Franshitshow and founder of both 2 Hot 4 Hoodies and non-binary+ run club, they are passionate about increasing trans and non-binary visibility and elevating queer joy.
