WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College tennis (3-0 Overall, 2-0 NEWMAC) wrapped up its fall season with a 7-0 NEWMAC win over Emerson College (0-3 Overall, 0-1 NEWMAC) on Wednesday at The Amy Batchelor '88, Trustee, Tennis Courts. The Blue finish the fall with an unblemished record, having won all 21 points in dual match competition.
The Blue opened the match by sweeping doubles to go up 1-0. No. 1 and 3Â doubles had matching 6-0 scores in Wellesley's favor. Sophomore Kriti Sarav (Chicago, Ill.) and first year Sophie Buttorff (Tacoma, Wash.) shutout senior Chase Stinson (San Antonio, Texas) and first year Abigail Miner (San Diego, Calif.) at No. 1 doubles. At no. 3 sophomore Dalia Khera (Houston, Texas) and first year Nandini Patel (Phoenix, Ariz.) beat juniors Jayden Beverly (Dupont, Wash.) and Carlson Jones (Cleveland, Ohio).
Blue sophomore Veda Madhusudan (Short Hills, N.J.) and first year Sofia Corte-Real (Stamford, Conn.) earned a 6-1 win at no. 2 doubles against sophomore Amaya Briones (Mexico City, Mexico) and first year Alisa Pimenova (Kyiv, Ukraine).
Wellesley didn't give up a single game at No. 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 singles with sophomore Suzanne Xu (Boyds, Md.), Corte-Real, first year Rianna Mariotti (Forest Hills, N.Y.), Madhusudan and Khera all winning 6-0, 6-0/
Buttorff picked up a 6-1, 6-1 point at No. 3 singles.
Wednesday wrapped up fall competition for the Blue. The Lions compete at Gordon College on Saturday, October 5.
