WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College tennis won 10 total matches in singles on the second day of the Wellesley Invitational at The Amy Batchelor '88, Trustee, Tennis Courts. The team is competing against Babson College, Brandeis University, Trinity (Conn.) College and UC Santa Cruz.

First year Sofia Corte-Real (Stamford, Conn.) dropped a 6-2, 6-1 match to Babson junior Matia Cristiani (San Salvador, El Salvador). Corte-Real made it 2-0 on the day with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Trinity junior Allie Francis (Westport, Conn.)

Classmate Nandini Patel (Phoenix, Ariz.) earned a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Trinity sophomore Naisha Rathi (Westbury, N.Y.) and later won 6-0, 6-1 versus Brennan Damond.

Sophomore Dalia Khera (Houston, Texas) picked up a pair of twin 6-1, 6-1 victories against Damond and Trinity sophomore Phebe Fisher (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).

Sophomore Kriti Sarav (Chicago, Ill.) beat Trinity first year Kendall Cedar 6-2, 6-2                               Babson junior Elena Keitt (Austin, Texas) went on to grab a 7-5, 6-2 match over Sarav.

The Beavers picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win when Sarai Dorismond (Carlsbad, Calif.) defeated Wellesley sophomore Suzanne Xu (Boyds, Md.). Xu bounced back with a gritty 6-4, 6-7(9), (10-7) victory over UC Santa Cruz senior Natalie Sprenger (Boulder, Colo.).

Sophomore Lily Cade (Minneapolis, Minn.) picked up a convincing 6-1, 6-0 win over Fisher. Cade later lost 6-3, 7-6(3) to Brandeis senior Cecilia Denis (Ardmore, Pa.).

First year Sophie Buttorff (Tacoma, Wash.) topped Francis 6-4, 6-3 and first year Julia Clark. Classmate year Kotistha Modak (Chennai, India) fell 6-1, 7-6(2) to Babson's Olivia Soffer (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Teammate Rianna Mariotti (Forest Hills, N.Y.) was defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Babson junior Mariana Campos (Houston, Texas).   

The final day of the Wellesley Invitational is tomorrow, starting at 9:00 AM.
