Box Score WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College tennis concluded the Wellesley Invitational at The Amy Batchelor '88, Trustee, Tennis Courts on Sunday. Babson College, Brandeis University, Trinity (Conn.) College and UC Santa Cruz have all been competing with the Blue.
In the morning doubles session, sophomore Suzanne Xu (Boyds, Md.) and first year Sophie Buttorff (Tacoma, Wash.) snagged a 6-4 win over Babson first year Sarai Dorismond (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Alessandra Cristiani (San Salvador, El Salvador).Â
Sophomore Kriti Sarav (Chicago, Ill.) and first year Rianna Mariotti (Forest Hills, N.Y.) defeated Babson's duo of junior Elena Keitt (Austin, Texas) and sophomore Chaniel Soffer (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) with a score of 6-3.
Wellesley wrapped up doubles with sophomore Veda Madhusudan (Short Hills, N.J.) and first year Nandini Patel (Phoenix, Ariz.) won 6-1 against Trinity first year Brennan Damond and sophomore Naisha Rathi (Westbury, N.Y.).
Blue sophomores Lily Cade (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Dalia Khera (Houston, Texas) lost 6-1 versus Brandeis senior Cecilia Denis (Ardmore, Pa.) and sophomore Chahana Budhbhatti (Ahmedabad, India).
In the afternoon singles session, Patel staged an exciting 3-6, 7-6(4), (10-8) comeback over Cristiani to gain a victory for Wellesley. Sarav dropped a competitive 6-3, 7-6(3) contest to Brandeis junior Nancy Zhang (Shanghai, China).
Wellesley first year Sofia Corte-Real (Stamford, Conn.) lost a 6-0, 6-3 match to UC Santa Cruz senior Sara Beckman (Chula Vista, Calif.). Corte-Real exacted revenge with a 6-4, 6-3 performance against Babson junior Shyla Khattar (New Delhi, India).
C. Soffer escaped Xu by a score of 7-6(3), 4-6, (13-11). Buttorff fell 6-4, 6-2 to UC Santa Cruz senior Natalie Sprenger (Boulder, Colo.) in singles play.Â
Babson junior Grace Starcher (Morristown, N.J.) snagged a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Khera.
