SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Wellesley College tennis competed this weekend at the Thoroughbred Invitational at Skidmore College.
Sophomore Sophie Buttorff (Tacoma, Wash.) claimed two out of three matches, with triumphs over Skidmore by scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-2, 7-5.
Junior Kriti Sarav (Chicago, Ill.) scored a win 6-3, 6-0 over Skidmore and a close 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (9) three-setter with Siena.
Sophomore Rianna Mariotti (Forest Hills, N.Y.) earned two victories, with a perfect 6-, 6-0 shutout of Skidmore and a triumph over Siena, 7-5, 6-3.
First-year Luna Bian (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) grabbed 6-4, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-1 wins over Skidmore on Saturday.
Classmate Praslin Hayes (Robbinsville, N.J.) topped Siena, 6-1, 6-3 and Skidmore, 6-4, 6-0.
Sophomore Nandini Patel (Phoenix, Ariz.) went 1-1 this weekend, picking up a 7-5, 6-3 over Siena on Saturday.
Junior Dalia Khera (Houston, Texas) recorded a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Skidmore.
Junior Suzanne Xu (Boyds, Md.) and sophomore Sofia Corte-Real (Stamford, Conn.) both competed in a trio of singles matches over the two days. Senior Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.) battled in a pair of competitions.
In doubles, Mariotti and Bian won all three doubles matches together over the weekend to lead the team.
Corte-Real and Buttorff defeated Skidmore, 7-5 while Buttorff and Sarav won 6-2 over the Thoroughbreds. Pak and Xu earned a 6-2 tally over Skidmore.
Patel and Khera beat Siena, 7-5. Corte-Real and Khera defeated Siena, 6-3.
Competition has now wrapped up for the fall.
