AMHERST, Mass. – Wellesley College volleyball fell 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-14) in a non-conference competition with Amherst College at LeFrak Gymnasium on Saturday. The Mammoths go to 7-8 on the year with the win while the Blue sit at .500 with a 10-10 record.

Sophomore Sofia Camilo (New York, N.Y.) led all student-athletes with 10 kills. First-year Judith Subirats-Bosch (Barcelona, Spain) assisted on 18 points while three members of Amherst had a trio of blocks.

Sophomore Sarah Jin (San Jose, Calif.) paced Wellesley with nine kills and a .353 hitting percentage. Junior Caroline Meyer (Indianapolis, Ind.) put up nine digs while classmate Noelle Winn (San Francisco, Calif.) had 14 assists.

The two teams opened the first set tied at 7-7. Amherst began to hit its stride, running its lead to 16-10 midway through the frame. Wellesley dug deep and brought it back to 20-18 in the Mammoths' favor. The visitors had a late three point run that made it a one-point set at 24-23. However, an attack stopped Wellesley's chances of completing the comeback.

Amherst took five of the first six points and never looked back in a 25-11 second set. The Mammoths recorded 10 kills on a .259 hitting percentage with several aces sprinkled in.

The final set saw much of the same, with Amherst up 12-4 early before putting the match out of reach. The purple and white ended the set with a blazing .407 hitting percentage and 15 kills to show for its effort.

Wellesley will return to Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse on Tuesday, October 28 to take on MIT at 7:00 PM. Amherst plays at Middlebury College on Friday, October 31.
