WORCESTER, Mass. – Wellesley College swimming & diving finished sixth overall at the 2025 NEWMAC Championships, hosted by WPI.

MIT won the team competition with 1678 points. Coast Guard Academy earned silver with 750 points while Wheaton College grabbed bronze with 677. Springfield College (636), WPI (454), the Blue (435), Babson College (416), Smith College (342), Mount Holyoke College (183.5) and Clark University (180.5) round out the field.

In the 1650 Free race, junior Emily Richardson (Bedford, N.H.) claimed seventh out of 29 competitors with a time of 18:14.38. Sophomore Chloe Weingarten (Rochester, Minn.) swam an 18:52.10 and finished 15th. Junior Leah Butler (Eugene, Ore.) took 25th with a 20:21.37 performance. 

Seniors Maya Hart (Menlo Park, Calif.) and Shawfong Hsu (Taipei, Taiwan) both qualified for the 200 Breaststroke "A" final. Hart finished eighth with a 2:29.50 PR. Hsu was 10th, clocking in at 2:32.40.

Senior Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.) grabbed the 10th spot in the 200 Fly "A" final, hitting a 2:10.12 mark. In the event "B" final, first-year Grace Hu (Andover, Mass.) swam a 2:13.31 to earn fourth.

First-year Lily Fender (Burnsville, N.C.) was the runner-up in the 200 Back "B" finals, touching the wall at 2:08.50, a personal best. Junior Tracey Liu (Princeton, N.J.) snatched 21st with a 2:13.90 in prelims while classmate Emily Richardson (Bedford, N.H.) clocked in at 2:15.39 for 24th.

Senior Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Colo.) claimed second by swimming a 53.36 in the 100 Free "B" final.

First-year Samara Burstein (New York, N.Y.) took 10th in 3-Meter Diving with a 382.40 score.

The meet closed with the 400 Free Relay. Cai, Liu, Hart and Mitsuoka teamed up to get eighth in the "A" final with a 3:38.09 time. Weingarten, Butler, Hsu and Hu scored ninth with a time of 3:50.95 in the "B" final.
