WELLESLEY, Mass. – Coast Guard Academy junior Abby McAllister (Pleasantville, N.Y.) put up 10 points (four goals, six assists) in a 19-5 NEWMAC performance against Wellesley College lacrosse at Butler Stadium on Wednesday night.
Senior Laine Weber (Granite Bay, Calif.) added four goals for the Bears (7-5 Overall, 5-3 NEWMAC). Junior Hannah Warnke (Lincoln, Neb.) poured in a hat-trick while classmate Aislinn Murray (Annapolis, Md.) tallied three assists. First year Ella Campbell (Foxborough, Mass.) grabbed four ground balls and won six draw controls. Senior keeper Maici Mintchwarner (Cream Ridge, N.J.) earned the win with eight saves and first year Kailee Heron (West Islip, N.Y.) added a stop.Â
The Blue (1-12 Overall, 0-8 NEWMAC) were led by a four goal-five draw control performance from sophomore Katie McCabe (Jupiter, Fla.). First year Amelia Woodard (Montpelier, Vt.) registered a goal, assisted by classmate Charlotte Petersen-Kopman (St. Louis, Mo.). Senior Mila Rosenthal-Vincenti (Stony Brook, N.Y.) had five ground balls while classmate Ryan Boone (Scotch Plains, N.J.) caused three turnovers. First year Aspen Caudill (Louisville, Ky.) defended six shots in goal while junior Anna Blake Patrick (Portland, Ore.) had four saves.
Wellesley initially led 2-1 in the first with McCabe putting the Blue ahead. Coast Guard scored three unanswered goals late in the first to gain a 4-2 advantage after 15 minutes of play.
After an early second quarter Bears goal from first year Reagan Parker (Annapolis, Md.) made it 5-2, the Blue responded with goals from McCabe and Woodard to make it a one-goal game. A 4-0 run in the middle of the second gave the visitors a cushion, and Coast Guard went up 10-5 by halftime.
The Bears scored six straight goals in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. A 3-0 fourth period wrapped up the 19-5 affair.
Both teams next compete on Saturday, April 19. The Blue are on the road versus Mount Holyoke College at 1:00 PM. The Bears host Wheaton College at 12:00 PM.
