WORCESTER, Mass. – Wellesley College tennis swept its regular season finale, 7-0, in a NEWMAC duel with Clark University at Corash Tennis Courts on Tuesday. Wellesley finishes the regular season 15-3 Overall and 7-1 in the NEWMAC while Clark ends its year at 3-14 Overall, 1-7 NEWMAC.
The Blue quickly earned 6-0 wins at all three lines in doubles and only lost a single game the entire match.
Junior Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.) and first-year Rianna Mariotti (Forest Hills, N.Y.) shutout junior Merielle Kane (Vienna, Maine) and first-year Larkin Gardinier (Medford, Mass.) at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Kriti Sarav (Chicago, Ill.) and first-year Sophie Buttorff (Tacoma, Wash.) were spotless against sophomores Olivia Shipley (Winchendon, Mass.) and Varvara Maltseva (Tres Cantos, Mass.) at the second spot. Sophomore Veda Madhusudan (Short Hills, N.J.) and first-year Nandini Patel (Phoenix, Ariz.) completed doubles competition at No. 3 versus senior Amy Marin (Danbury, Conn.) and junior Crisi Patel (West Lebanon, N.H.).
Wellesley grabbed 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles. Patel, Mariotti, Sarav Madhusudan and sophomore Dalia Khera each won all 12 games played without a single one dropped.
First-year Kotistha Modak (Chennai, India) took a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 singles spot to round out the win.
The Blue have now clinched the No. 2 seed in the NEWMAC and will host a Semifinals match on Saturday, May 3 with an opponent and a time to be determined.
