AMHERST, Mass. – Wellesley College track & field juniors Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.), Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) and Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) all competed at the NEICAAA Outdoor Championship at UMass Amherst on Saturday.
Whinney took second place in the 3000m Steeplechase, competing in a 20-person field. Whinney's time of 10:45.61 currently ranks No. 11 in Division III this season and puts the junior in contention to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships in Geneva, Ohio later this month. Whinney's performance earned eight points to put the Blue in a tie for 19th place as a team.
Beauchamp also competed in the 3000m Steeplechase event, placing 10th with a time of 11:25.19.
Brydges finished in the top of the 5000m field, coming in 15th out of 31 competitors with a personal-best time of 17:55.32.Â
Next up, the trio will compete at the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday, May 15.
