NEW LONDON, Conn. – Wellesley College track & field junior Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) picked up a key 3000m Steeplechase win at the New England DIII Championship, hosted by Coast Guard Academy on Saturday.
Beauchamp topped the 22 competitor field at 11:11.40, a season-best time, and picked up 10 points for the Blue. Beauchamp's time now ranks 38th in NCAA Division III this season.
The 10 points put the Blue in a tie for 27th overall in the team competition.
Senior Aoife Fitzgerald (Paxton, Mass.) ran a season-best 1:08.16 in the 400m Hurdles, which was good for 11th place.
Senior Merete Ogah (Austin, Texas) and first-year Ellie Wolf (Irvine, Calif.) both ran in the 200m dash. Ogah broke the 26-second mark at 25.92 to earn 17th. Wolf came in at 26.23 and ended in 21st.
Senior Erin Dickinson (Papillion, Neb.), Ogah, junior Sara Maeve Klingensmith (Chapel Hill, N.C.) and Wolf teamed up to take 13th out of 28 teams in the 4x100m Relay with a 50.10 time.
Next up, Wellesley will have competitors at the NEICAAA Outdoor Championship on May 9-10.
