WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College tennis went 5-1 as a team in doubles during the first day of the Wellesley Invitational at the Amy Batchelor '88, Trustee, Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.
The Blue faced off against Trinity College in doubles to begin the invitational.Â
Junior Kriti Sarav (Chicago, Ill.) and first-year Luna Bian (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) made the most of their first pairing together, winning two matches by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.
Junior Suzanne Xu (Boyds, Md.) and sophomore Rianna Mariotti (Forest Hills, N.Y.) added to the win column with a 6-3 performance. Also winning with a 6-3 scoreline was the duo of sophomores Sophie Buttorff (Tacoma, Wash.) and Nandini Patel (Phoenix, Ariz.).
Junior Dalia Khera (Houston, Texas) and first-year Praslin Hayes (Robbinsville, N.J.) collected a 6-4 victory in their first joint appearance.
Senior Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Sofia Corte-Real (Stamford, Conn.) battled hard but came up just short, falling 7-6(3) in a tiebreaker.
The Wellesley Invitational will continue tomorrow, beginning at 9:00 AM.
