Shirley's Strike Leads Blue Soccer to 1-0 Victory over Endicott

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College soccer first-year Quinn Shirley (San Mateo, Calif.) made the most of a first career goal in a 1-0 victory versus Endicott College on Wednesday afternoon.

Shirley's game-winner came in the 60th minute off of a pass from sophomore Isabella Tolosa (Santa Clara, Calif.) and improved the Blue to 2-0 on the season.

Despite getting out shot 16-7 over the course of 90 minutes, Wellesley's defense stood tall, earning a second consecutive shutout to open the year. Senior keeper Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) made six saves in the opening half while first-year Olivia Lore (Blue Bell, Pa.) kept a clean sheet with a pair of stops across the final 45 minutes.

The Gulls (0-3) best chances at a goal came from junior Lily Miller (Warwick, R.I.) and senior Ella Morgan (Salem, Mass.). Sophomore Amanda Cosgrove (Newton, Mass.) played all 90 minutes in goal for the visitors.

With the win, the Blue snapped a four-game series losing streak against Endicott that dated back to 2018.

Wellesley will wrap up a three-game home stand at 12:00 PM versus Brandeis University on Sunday, September 7. Endicott returns home to welcome Roger Williams University on Saturday, September 6 at 4:30 PM.
