WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College lacrosse cruised to an 18-1 non-conference home victory over UMaine-Farmington at Butler Stadium on Wednesday.

First-year Milica Simic (Park Ridge, Ill.) and first-year Fran Primoli (Stillwater, Minn.) each finished with six goals and an assist to lead Wellesley (1-1). Simic added five ground balls and six draw controls. First-year Eliza Wysong (Kansas City, Mo.) contributed a goal, six draw controls and four ground balls. 

Senior Anna Blake Patrick (Portland, Ore.) picked up the win and made one save in almost 24 minutes of action. Sophomore Aspen Caudill (Louisville, Ky.) added one save in six minutes, while sophomore Elaina Brookhart (Mystic, Conn.) played a scoreless third quarter with one save. First-year Scarlett McArthur (Toronto, Ontario) played the fourth quarter and allowed one goal with one save.

First-year Erin Gould (Lebanon, Maine) scored the lone goal for the Beavers (0-1). Junior Emma Dunn (Farmington, Maine) registered three shots, three ground balls and two draw controls. Senior Skye Cortonoir (West Gardiner, Maine) finished with eight saves for the visitors. 

Wellesley got on the board, three minutes into the contest, when Simic found the back of the net.  Less than a minute later, Primoli put the Blue on top by two with a first tally of the season. Simic and Primoli added two more goals apiece in the frame to give them each a hat trick and a 6-0 lead for the Blue after 15 minutes.

The Blue carried the momentum into the second, scoring four times in the opening five minutes of the frame to take a 10-0 lead. Wellesley senior Ella Kim (Bellevue, Wash.) added a late goal to give the home team an 11-0 advantage at the half. 

After 10+ minutes of scoreless action to begin the third, Simic notched a fourth goal of the game to increase the Wellesley lead to 12-0. Primoli tacked on a goal with 1:01 on the clock for a 13-0 margin heading into the final quarter. 

Simic scored less than 30 seconds into the fourth for a 14-0 lead. Four minutes later, UMaine-Farmington broke through with a free-position goal by Gould. The Blue answered with a tally from Simic to regain a 14-goal advantage. Sophomore Charlotte Petersen-Kopman (St. Louis, Mo.), Kim and Primoli added late goals for the Blue to make the final 18-1. 

Next up, Wellesley will travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy for a 7:00 PM game on Wednesday, March 4. UMaine Farmington competes at Mount Holyoke College on Sunday, March 1 at 11:00 AM.
