The 2024-25 ITA Northeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year, Damien Prohaska joined the Blue tennis program as Assistant Coach in the fall of 2021. As Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Blue, he has been instrumental in spearheading the overall recruiting efforts of the tennis program. His work over the past two years has produced two national top-20 recruitment classes for the Blue, earning the 16th-ranked class in 2023 and 18th-ranked class in 2024 in NCAA Division III Women's Tennis, according to the Tennis Recruiting Network.
Prohaska joined the Blue after working as an Admissions Counselor and Athletics Liaison at UMass Dartmouth, where he oversaw recruitment and outreach across New England and the Mid-Atlantic region and managed all DIII program recruitment lists. Prohaska also served as the Graduate Assistant Men's and Women's Tennis Coach from 2018-2020 at Regis College, where he also managed recruitment efforts, organized social media campaigns, and developed weekly conditioning and on-court practice plans. Prohaska guided the Pride women’s tennis program to two straight GNAC semi-final appearances.
From 2012-2016, Prohaska was a four year member of the tennis team at SUNY Oneonta in Oneonta, New York. Prohaska was also named team captain and finished his senior year with a record of 9-2 in singles matches, and 1-0 in doubles matches.
Originally from Binghamton, New York, Prohaska received a BS in Mass Communication & Media Studies at SUNY Oneonta. He then earned his Master's Degree in strategic and sports communication at Regis College in May, 2020. Prohaska is also part of the Class of 2025 for the ITA CoachUp program.
