AMHERST, Mass. -- Wellesley College's Kendall
Tada and Erica
Choo had a strong day two at the 2010 New England
Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) on
Saturday.
The first-year duo advanced to the semifinals of the Chris Davis
"B" flight with two 3-0 victories on the day. They opened
with a sweep of the second pair from Babson College and then
defeated the tournament's fifth-seeded pair, Roger Williams' #2
team, in the quarterfinals. Tada and Choo will now compete against
a pair from Wheaton in the semifinals.
After opening with a day one win, Wellesley's #3 pair of
Morgan
Johnstonbaugh and Raji
Nagalla dropped a tough match to Conn College's second
team.
In the consolation bracket of the Gail Smith "A" flight,
Diana Granger, playing with a Middlebury player
after an injury forced Jacqueline
Shen out of the competition, posted a 2-1 win over
Springfield's #1 pair, and then defeated Conn's #1 pair to advance
to the semifinals.
Each team played one doubles match against their opponents and
then two singles matches. The pair that took two out of three
matches advanced to the next round. Action continues tomorrow at
10:00am.
