The Wellesley College tennis team posted a 7-2 victory over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Mount Holyoke at the Keohane Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. The Blue improve to 2-0 (2-0 NEWMAC), while the Lyons drop to 0-3 (0-2 NEWMAC).

Wellesley opened play with a 2-1 advantage in the doubles matches. The Blue picked up a quick 8-3 win in the first flight as Jacqueline Shen (Calgary, Alberta, CA) and Diana Granger (Glencoe, IL) paired up for a victory over Natalie Hsiang (Pittsford, NY) and Sarah Moore (Plano, TX). At two, Wellesley's Erica Choo (Okemos, MI) and Kendall Tada (Hilo, HI) were 8-6 winners over My-Linh Nguyen (Potomac, MD) and AnnElizabeth Konkel (Camp Hill, PA). Mount Holyoke picked up a point in the third spot, with Elise Marifian (Belleville, IL) and Maya Sayarath (St. Johnsbury, VT) posted an 8-6 win over Nathalie Herman (San Francisco, CA) and Morgan Johnstonbaugh (Gibsonia, PA).

In singles, Wellesley swept the first five positions to seal the 7-2 victory. Shen opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Han in the first flight, while Choo was a 6-4, 7-5 winner over Hsiang at two. Herman defeated Konkel, 6-3, 6-3 in the third flight, Tada posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Richardson at three, and Granger was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Marifian in the fifth flight. Mount Holyoke's Sayarath picked up the Lyons lone singles point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Raji Nagalla (Hillsboro, OR) in the sixth position.

Wellesley returns to action tomorrow afternoon, taking on three-time defending NCAA Champions, Williams, at 2:00pm. Mount Holyoke next hosts Smith on Tuesday at 4:00pm.
