BOSTON, Mass. -- The Wellesley College swimming and diving team won 15 of 16 events to cruise to a 218-77 victory over Simmons in dual meet action on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Wellesley's dual record improves to 3-1 on the season, while Simmons evens its record at 2-2.

The Blue got event wins from a total of 11 different student-athletes, led by multple winners first-year Grace Bachman, and sophomores Keelin Nave and Hayley Goydan. Bachman won the 200-fly (2:21.45) and the 500-free (5:31.52), while Nave was a winner in the 50-free (25.15) and the 100-free (54.15). Goydan swept the diving events, recording a 264.59 on the 1-meter and a 230.20 on the 3-meter.

Other strong swimmers for the Blue were junior Virginia Hung, and first-years Tiffany Chen and Veronica Lin. Hung won the 50-back (30.12) and touched second in the 500-free (5:46.34). Chen took first in the 400 IM (4:57.13) and second in the 200-free (2:06.69), while Lin was first in the 200-breast (2:36.85) and second in the 400 IM (4:57.36). 

Also recording wins for Wellesley were seniors Melanie Kaplan, Olivia Hulme, and Stephanie Welch, as well as first-years Kendra Waters and Megan Lambert. Kaplan was the 1,650-winner (19:37.58), Hulme won the 50-fly (28.88) and Welch touched first in the 200-back (2:16.57). Waters picked up a win in the 50-breast (32.77) and Lambert won the 200-free (2:05.32). 

Rounding out the individual accomplishments, five Blue athletes recorded second place finishes at the event, including senior Katherine Foley, sophomores Anne Hamilton and Gabriela Kovacikova, and first-years Sabrina Giglio and Gabby Cooper-Vespa. Foley was second in the 50-back (31.95), Hamilton took second in the 200-breast (2:40.55), while Kovacikova touched second in the 50-fly (30.38). Giglio was runner-up in the 50-breast in 35.67, while Cooper-Vespa took second in both diving events (208.20, 207.98). 

In the relay events, Wellesley came out on top in the 400-medley where the team of Waters, Bachman, Hamilton and Kovacikova touched first in a time of 4:20.03. In the final event of the afternoon, the Blue's 200-free relay team of Hung, Kovacikova, Hamilton and first-year Taylor Rondestvedt touched the wall in 1:45.98, just .20 off the winning time. 

Wellesley swimming and diving is off until November 30th, when the Blue host Tufts in a dual meet at Chandler Pool at 7:00pm.
