Nave Earns All-America Honors; Sets School/NEWMAC Record

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Wellesley College sophomore Keelin Nave closed out her appearance at the 2012 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with a record setting performance in the 200-butterfly event.

Nave swam the event three times today, culminating with a 12th place performance in the finals, earning her honorable mention All-America honors. She was making her first appearance at the national meet and came away with her first national honor.

Nave's day started in the morning session in the preliminaries of the event, where she tied for 16th place with a time of 2:06.38. With only the top 16 advancing to the finals, Nave was forced to participate in a swim-off with University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire senior Nicole Dorvinen.

In the swim-off, Nave recorded her best ever performance in the event, finishing in a time of 2:03.38. She defeated her opponent by nearly half a pool length, while also setting school and NEWMAC open records in the process.

In the finals of the event, Nave posted a time of 2:04.59 taking fourth in the consolation final and 12th overall.

The 2012 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted at the IUPUI Natatorium, will conclude tomorrow. Wellesley's Hayley Goydan will compete in the 3-meter diving event, with the preliminaries beginning after the 10:00am swimming session.
