BRYN MAWR, Pa. -- The Wellesley College tennis team won a pair of matches to open the 2014 Seven Sisters Championship with an perfect slate. The Blue swept both Bryn Mawr and Smith at the two-day event, which is being hosted by Bryn Mawr.

The Blue improve to 12-8 overall with the wins. Wellesley will head into day two action tied with Vassar, who also nabbed a 2-0 start to the tournament.

Against Bryn Mawr, Wellesley got off to a good start, winning each match in straight sets for a 5-0 sweep. At one doubles, first-years Andjela Stojkovic and Lina Ye won their match handedly, topping Vivien Chen and Kendall Baller, 6-0, 6-1. At second doubles, Blue senior Kendall Tada and first-year Dasha Kostikina picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Catherine Austin and Eliza Perocchi.

In singles, the Blue cruised at all three flights to seal the team win. At one, junior Sojung Lee posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jenny Vogel, while at two, first-year Carina Chen topped Melina Koukoutchos, 6-0, 6-3. Rounding out the singles action, Caroline Dickensheets was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Tirsa Delate.

Wellesley was equally as impressive against Smith, also earning a sweep. In doubles, Wellesley's Tada and Lee paired up for a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ruth Yi and Esabelle Eyman at one, and Stojkovic and Kostikina teamed up for a 6-0, 6-4, win over Jinan Martiuk and Alexandra Steck at two.

In singles, Chen blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at one, while at two, first-year Samantha Stone was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Seema Samawi. At three, Dickensheets outlasted Margaret Anne Smith, winning the match 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.

Seven Sisters action continues tomorrow, with the Blue taking on Mount Holyoke at 10:30am. Wellesley will then play Vassar at 3:00pm for what could be the title match.
