Blue Field Hockey Falls To Trinity (Conn.) On Senior Day

Box Score

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Senior Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.) poured in a career-high five goals to lead visiting Trinity College to a 5-1 victory over Wellesley College field hockey in non-conference play on Saturday at the Wellesley Fields Complex.

Trinity has now won eight of their last nine contests to improve to 9-6 overall. Wellesley, who recognized seniors Emmy Hamilton (New York, N.Y.) and Fallon Oeser (Brookfield, Conn.) prior to today's contest, drops to 5-11 on the season.

Finn recorded a first half hat trick to propel the Bantams to a 3-0 halftime lead. Trinity's leading scorer knocked home her first on a great individual effort at 4:04, carrying the ball from outside the circle to create her own chance. Finn netted her second at 17:59, finishing on a cross from sophomore Caroline Curtin (Andover, Mass.) inside the circle, before completing her hat trick at 21:36 when she scored on her own rebound to make the score 3-0.

The Trinity forward added two more goals in the opening ten minutes of the second half to make the score 5-0 Bantams. Finn hammered a shot from the top of the arc on a penalty corner past Wellesley goalkeeper Maggie Connelly (Duxbury, Mass.), following the insertion from sophomore Nicole Quinlan (Duxbury, Mas.) and a stick-stop from Curtain. Quinlan and Curtin both picked-up assists on the play. Finn capped her five-goal day with a penalty stroke goal at 44:04.

The Bantams finished the game with a 23-15 edge in shots and a 17-9 lead in shots on goal, forcing Connelly to make 11 stops for the Blue. In the Trinity cage Lori Berger (Scottsdale, Ariz.) turned back seven shots to earn her ninth win of the year.

Wellesley first year Carson Dennis (Grosse Pointe Ile, Mich.) broke up the shutout with her fourth goal of the season at 68:03, scoring on a redirection of a Hamilton drive in front. Dennis had a team-high seven shots for the Blue.

Wellesley will host UMass Dartmouth in their final non-conference game of the year on Thursday, October 26, at 4:00 PM. Trinity welcomes Amherst in their next game at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 25.
