Early Goals Propel U. of New England to Win over Wellesley Field Hockey, 3-1

Box Score

Biddeford, Maine - Sophomore Madi Robito (Pelham, N.H.) score a pair of goals to lead U. of New England to a 3-1 win over Wellesley field hockey on Wednesday.

Robito had her second multi-goal game of the season for the Nor'easters (4-5) and first-year Grace Bazin (Westminster, Vt.) added a pair of assists. Junior Cassidy Novello (Scotch Plains, N.J.) scored the lone goal of the game for the Blue (4-5).

The Nor'easters were firing on all cylinders from the opening whistle with Robito finding the back of the cage at the 4:21 mark on a shot cued up by Bazin. Less than two minutes later Robito stuck again with Bazin picking up her second assist of the game.

The Blue cut the lead back to 2-1 late in the first when Novello scored her third goal of the season for the Blue. Junior Alex Lenart (Princeton Junction, N.J.) recorded the assist for the second straight game.

Despite three shots on goal from UNE in the second quarter, neither team would score again until early in the fourth, when senior Kate Lindmark (Norfolk, Mass.) notched her fourth goal of the season. The Nor'easters would put two more shots on goal in the fourth as they maintained their 3-1 lead through the final horn.

The Blue will look to bounce back on Saturday with an 11 AM NEWMAC road game at WPI. The Nor'easters travel to Western New England Saturday for a CCC game.
