Smith Blanks Blue Soccer, 3-0

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Wellesley College soccer dropped a 3-0 NEWMAC contest at Smith College on Wednesday.

Smith sophomore Abby Dickson (Deerfield, N.H.) tapped in a volley off of a cross from senior Sara Buszkiewicz (Westminster, Mass.) at the 17:58 mark of the first half to put the Pioneers (5-7-1 Overall, 4-1-1 NEWMAC) up 1-0.

At 24:35, Smith sophomore Una Keller (Davis, Calif.) doubled the Pioneers' lead with a strike from the midfield into the lower left corner of the goal.

Keller added an assist to the day in the 57th minute by finding senior Kyla Warner (Katy, Texas) to make it 3-0.

Junior Sascha Fleesler (New York City, N.Y.) stopped a trio of shots for the Blue (5-6-2 Overall, 1-4-1 NEWMAC). Junior Skylar Smith (Carlisle, Mass.) sent back a pair of shots for the Pioneers. First year Linnea Alvarado-Faulkner (Brandon, Vt.) made two late game saves.

Wellesley won the shot battle 10-8. The Pioneers fired four corners and limited the Blue to one.

The Blue will host its annual Senior Day at 2:00 PM against Clark University on Saturday, October 19. The Pioneers travel to Babson College for a 2:00 PM game that same day.
