WELLESLEY, Mass. – Emerson College scored once in each half to collect a 2-0 NEWMAC win at Wellesley College soccer on Wednesday.
Senior Yoshiko Slater (Laurel, Md.) gave the Lions (5-5-5 Overall, 4-2-2 NEWMAC) a 1-0 lead at the 20:01 mark of the first half. Slater headed the ball in off of a corner kick from graduate student Marissa Krenn (Pittsburgh, Pa.).
Junior Linae Bezdek (Frisco, Texas) supplied the second score at 55:33. Bezdek shot from the right side of the box into the lower left corner off a flick from senior Alianna West-Rodrigues (Waikoloa, Hawaii).
The Blue (5-7-3 Overall, 1-5-2 NEWMAC) outshot the Lions 14-7. Wellesley earned nine corner kicks. Emerson keeper Amara Schaub (Torrance, Calif.) stopped seven shots while Wellesley junior Sascha Fleesler (New York, N.Y.) made two saves.
Up next, each team plays at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 26. The Blue will travel to Springfield College while the Lions host Clark University.
