CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Sean Luk (Bel Air, Md.) scored two goals for No. 3 MIT in a 4-1 contest with Wellesley College soccer on Wednesday at Roberts Field.
Luk gave the Engineers (16-1-1 Overall, 10-0 NEWMAC) the lead at the 54:08 mark of the second half. Luk took the ball and curled it into the far right corner.
MIT doubled its lead at the 62:54 mark when Luk put up a second goal off of a cross from sophomore Arianna Doss (Houston, Texas).Â
First year Solveig Unteroberdoerster (Chevy Chase, Md.) got the Blue (5-9-3 Overall, 1-7-2 NEWMAC) on the board 70 minutes and nine seconds into the game. The first year collected a loose ball and found the goal for a third goal of the season.
A minute and a half later, senior Natalie Barnouw (Los Angeles, Calif.) headed in a goal for MIT off of a free kick from sophomore Macy Lehrer (Danville, Calif.). Senior Meagan Rowlett added a fourth tally at 82:51 on a shot assisted by sophomore Ayla Sumer (Dallas, Texas).
Wellesley goalie Sascha Fleesler (New York, N.Y.) stopped four shots for Wellesley. First year Maddy Noll (Northbrook, Ill.) earned the win for the Engineers. MIT outshot Wellesley 15-3 and took 10 corner kicks.
Both teams will conclude the regular season on Saturday, November 2. Wellesley welcomes Salve Regina University at 12:00 PM while MIT host Emerson College at 1:00 PM.
