WELLESLEY, Mass. – Babson College scored a pair of goals in the final 14 minutes to earn a come from behind 3-2 NEWMAC victory over Wellesley College soccer on Saturday.
Down 2-1 at the 76 minute mark, junior Meredith Greeley (Ottawa Hills, Ohio) scored a second goal of the game, on a header set up by sophomore Ally Clarkson (Reading, Mass.).
Six minutes later, senior Elisa Diletizia (Canton, Mass.) gave the Beavers (3-4-3 Overall, 1-1-2 NEWMAC) its first lead of the contest on a shot assisted by first year Josie Lee (Duxbury, Mass.). Earlier, Greeley tied the game at 1-1 with a goal at the 42:13 mark, assisted by senior Emma Mumby (Westborough, Mass.).
The Blue (5-4-1 Overall, 1-2-0 NEWMAC) struck first with sophomore Olivia Chow-Gillette (Dallas, Texas) tallying a sixth goal of the season at 15:14 of the first half. After Greeley tied the score at 1-1, first year Emma Hogarth (Chandler, Ariz.) put Wellesley back in front three minutes into the second half.
Babson outshot Wellesley 17-11, and attempted five corner kicks to the Blue's three. Both Blue junior Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) and Beavers senior Nora Ryan (Abington, Mass.) stopped six shots in goal.
Wellesley plays a 6:00 PM game at Mount Holyoke College on Wednesday, October 9. Babson also faces Mount Holyoke College next, on Saturday, October 12 at 11:00 AM.
