Blue Soccer Plays to a Scoreless Draw at Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College soccer (5-4-2 Overall, 1-2-1 NEWMAC) played to a scoreless draw at NEWMAC foe Mount Holyoke College (3-2-4 Overall, 0-2-2 NEWMAC) on Wednesday evening.

Both defenses set the tempo in the first half, which saw only seven total shots. The Blue put three attempts on goal, with two coming from junior Kyra Narunatvanich (Naperville, Ill.).

The second half was evenly played with each team generating chances in the final minutes, but the keepers were up to the task to preserve the draw. 

Wellesley finished the match with a 12-8 advantage in shots (7-2 on goal) and a 4-0 edge in corner kicks. Senior Carrie Huang (Seattle, Wash.) led all players with three shots on target. 

Junior goalie Sascha Fleesler (New York, N.Y.) earned the clean sheet for the Blue with a couple of saves, while Mount Holyoke sophomore goalie Evie Krieg (Frisco, Texas) had seven stops in the shutout. 

Wellesley and Mount Holyoke will each compete in NEWMAC competition on Saturday, October 12. The Blue host Coast Guard Academy at 2:00 PM while Mount Holyoke is at Babson College for an 11:00 AM contest.
