ROME, N.Y. – Wellesley College golf finished day one of the 36-hole Hamilton Invitational in first place with a team score of 308. The event is being played at the Par 72 Rome Country Club.
Williams sits in second with a score of 310, two strokes behind the Blue. Babson (314), Hamilton A (315), and Amherst (318) close out the top five teams.
First year Savannah Boyd (Shanghai, China) is tied for the lead in a crowded field of 79 competitors after putting together a 74 (+2). Sophomore Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) is also in the top 10, in seventh place after recording a 76 (+4).
Sophomores Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) (78, +6), Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) (80, +8) and Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) (86, +14) are also competing for the Blue.
Classmate Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) had a strong showing as an individual, stringing together a 78 (+6) after 18 holes.
The second day of competition will start tomorrow at 9:30 AM.
