RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Wellesley College golf is in fifth place after the first day of the Wesleyan Invitational at the Silver Spring Country Club.
The Blue combined for a team score of 313 (+33) and are three shots behind fourth place Amherst (310, +30) and five shots behind third place Williams (308, +28). Tournament host Wesleyan is in second place at 300 (+20), while Bowdoin leads the 12-team field with a 298 (+18).

Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) went out in 40 and came in with 36, including a pair of birdies in the final five holes for a 6-over 76. Wang is in the top 10 of the 60-player field currently in a tie for ninth.

Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) is one back of Wang after a 77. Yeh had a birdie on each side and is in a tie for 13th after day one.

Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore
Jessica Li (Temecula, Calif.) each carded a 10-over round of 80 on the par-70, 5,647-yard layout. Li had a streak of seven pars in a row on the front, while Sun recorded a pair of birdies on the opening nine.

Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) rounded out the lineup with an 82. Lewis is in t-30th after 18 holes.
Round two starts tomorrow bright and early at 8:30 AM.
