NEW LONDON, Conn. – A pair of second half goals helped Connecticut College pick up a 2-0 win over Wellesley College field hockey at Silfen Field & Track on Tuesday.
Junior Bridget McGann (West Hartford, Conn.) recorded both goals for the Camels (1-2). Sophomore Liz Winemaster (Lake Forest, Ill.) made a pair of saves for Connecticut College.
First year keeper Hannah Simmonds (Austin, Texas) stopped five shots in the cage for the Blue (2-2). Senior Maya Benway (Harvard, Mass.) and sophomore Katie Golla (Oak Park, Ill.) each registered a shot on goal.
McGann tallied goals in the third and fourth quarters to account for the scoring in the game. The Camels held a 15-6 shot advantage for the game, including seven shots in the fourth quarter.
The teams were nearly even in penalty corners with Connecticut College taking seven and Wellesley attempting six.
The Blue return home to host #EarnTheW Day against Bridgewater State University on Saturday, September 14 at 12:00 PM. That same day, the Camels will welcome Bowdoin at 11:00 AM.
