Blue Field Hockey Grabs 1-0 Win versus Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College field hockey remained undefeated in NEWMAC play with a 1-0 victory versus Mount Holyoke College on Saturday. Saturday's performance runs Wellesley's win streak to three.

The Blue (6-3 Overall, 2-0 NEWMAC)  got on the board early in the second quarter with a goal from first year Madeline Hamstra (Houston, Texas). The tally proved to be all the offense Wellesley needed, as the Blue only allowed a single shot to be taken. First year Maddie Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich.) earned a save in the shutout performance in the cage.

Wellesley held a 15-1 shot advantage in the contest. The team took six penalty corners while Mount Holyoke didn't attempt any.

Senior goalie Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) registered seven saves for the Lyons (6-4 Overall, 0-2 NEWMAC). First year MJ Owens (Fairfield, Conn.) had the lone shot for Mount Holyoke.

The Blue will return to Butler Stadium to take on Nichols College in a non-conference contest at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 2. The Lyons head to Clark for a 2:00 PM NEWMAC game on Saturday, October 5.
