Wellesley and Emerson Play to Scoreless Draw in Soccer

BOSTON, Mass. – Wellesley College soccer played to a scoreless draw with Emerson College at Rotch Field on Wednesday night.

Tonight's result marks the third scoreless tie in the last four meetings between the two teams.

The Blue go to 5-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the NEWMAC, while Emerson goes to 4-3-4 overall and 2-0-2 in conference action.

The game featured just three shots on target, all by Emerson. The best scoring chance of the evening came in the 79th minute when senior Linae Bezdek (Frisco, Texas) took a shot in close on the left side that hit off the post and stayed out.

Senior Reika Ishibe (Guilford, Conn.) was credited with the Blue's lone shot of the contest.

Wellesley senior Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.), who was named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season earlier this week, made three saves to preserve the clean sheet, the eighth career shutout to rank solo 10th all-time.

Sophomore Hailey Forman (Saratoga, Calif.) recorded a fourth shutout of the season for the Lions.

Wellesley will be hosting its Senior Day on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00 PM versus Wheaton College. Emerson plays at Coast Guard Academy at the same date and time.
