Soccer Concludes Regular Season in 0-0 NEWMAC Draw with Mount Holyoke

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College soccer and Mount Holyoke dueled to a 0-0 regular season finale in  NEWMAC play on Saturday. Despite Wellesley holding a notable 31-3 edge in shots taken, Lyons keeper Clarissa Govea (Pico Rivera, Calif.) stopped 16 shots to keep the scoreless stalemate intact.

The Blue end the regular season at 6-8-4 Overall and 3-5-3 in NEWMAC play. The Lyons finish the year with a 1-10-5 record and an 0-9-2 mark in conference competition.

Govea made a critical save on a penalty kick in the 61st first minute, stopping senior Reika Ishibe (Guilford, Conn.) from putting the hosts on the board.

Sophomore Solveig Unteroberdoerster (Washington, D.C.) and first-year Hillary Gonzalez (Saratoga, Calif.) tied for the Blue lead with four shots taken apiece.

Senior goalie Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) made three saves and recorded a seven shutout of the year and 11th of the career, tied for ninth in program history. McNair is now also tied for ninth all-time in saves, with 219.

The Blue will now await the release of the NEWMAC Championship bracket to find out the playoff seeding.
