Blue Golf Ties for Top Spot at Williams Spring Invite; Du Individual Runner-Up

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – No. 6 Wellesley College golf tied host No. 8 Williams College for the top spot at the Williams Spring Invitational at the Par 71 Taconic G.C. 

Both teams finished the event with a 36-hole team score of 618 (+50), with the Blue making up a five stroke gap on day two. The Ephs ultimately won the tiebreaker based on the fifth player's score. Middlebury College took third place with a team total of 628.

Sophomore Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) ended the weekend with a 150 (75-75) and was the runner-up in a field of 60 golfers. Du was two strokes over par on both the front and back nine on Sunday.

Sophomore Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) went 10 over par (81) on Sunday. Yeh's two-day score of 153 cracked the top five, with the sophomore tying for fourth place.

After going 11 strokes over par yesterday, sophomore Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) dropped four strokes on Sunday despite the wind, finishing the weekend with a 160 (82-78).

Sophomore Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) put up an 87 (+16) on Sunday, ending the weekend with a 161 (74-87). 

First-year Savannah Boyd (Shanghai, China) finished the day with an 81 (+10) and wrapped up the weekend with 163 strokes across 36 holes (82-81).

Sophomore Kaurvaki Bajpai (Chantilly, Va.) and first-year Grace Yuan (Beijing, China) each played as individuals. Bajpai shot a 79 (+8) on Sunday while Yuan carded an 81 (+10). Both finished with a 36-hole score of 159 (+17).

Next up, Wellesley competes at the annual Liberty League Championships at Pinehaven CC in Guilderland, N.Y. on April 26-27.
