SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – No. 15 Wellesley College golf is in seventh after day one of the Jack Leaman Invitational, hosted by Amherst College at the Par-72, 5,665-yard Orchards Golf Club.
The Blue combined for a team score of 318 (+30) and is 16 shots back of No. 2 NYU in first place (302, +14). Wellesley is only one back of a pair of teams in t-5th in No. 13 Middlebury and No. 11 Hamilton (317, +29).
First-year
Jessica Li (Temecula, Calif.) led the Blue with a 1-over 73 to be in t-4th after day one. Li began on hole 8 and was 1-under through the first nine holes. Li then posted three bogeys and a second birdie on the final nine to record the 73. Li was one of two players to be even on the par 4s today.
Sophomore
Savannah Boyd (Shanghai, China) is t-20th with a 79. Boyd had a pair of birdies, one on each side.
Juniors
Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) and
Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) each carded an 83 to be in t-43rd in the 66-player field. Both players recorded one birdie.
Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) came away with an 86. The junior birdied the par-3 7th and currently sits in t-51st place.
First-year
Kate Lee (Lake Oswego, Ore.) also was on the course as an individual. Lee shot an 84 and is t-46th.
