Wellesley Golf Competes at the Northeast Invitational

SOUTHWICK, Mass. – No. 15 Wellesley College golf is in t-4th place after the first day of the Northeast Invitational played at The Ranch Golf Club. The Blue compiled a team score of 301 (+13). 

The teams were met with overcast skies and mild temps throughout the day at the hilly and undulating par-72, 5,805-yard layout. No. 13 Middlebury and No. 5 Amherst lead the 7-team field with a score of 294 (+6). No. 4 Williams is in third (297, +9) followed by the Blue and No. 12 Hamilton in t-4th (301, +13). No. 18 Bowdoin (306, +18) and No. 21 Babson (320, +32) round out the field in sixth and seventh, respectively.

Junior Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) led the way for the Blue with a 1-over, 73. Sun went out in 37 with one bogey and eight pars and came in with an even par 36 after one birdie and one bogey. Sun is in t-6th. 

First-year Jessica Li (Temecula, Calif.) was next on the team with a 74 (+2) with 37 on both sides. Li birdied the second hole and is in t-10th place out of 44 players. 

Sophomore Savannah Boyd (Shanghai, China) carded a 75 (+3) to sit in t-14th after 18 holes. Boyd was even on the front with a pair of birdies and a couple of bogeys before going 3-over on the tough back. 

Junior Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) shot a 79 (+7) to be in t-31st heading into Sunday. Yeh birdied the 393-yard 10th hole. 

Junior Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) rounded out the squad with an 83 (+11). 

Competing as an individual, junior Kaurvaki Bajpai (Chantilly, Va.) posted a great round of 1-over to be tied for sixth after day one. Bajpai was 1-under through the opening 11 holes and finished with two bogeys, one birdie and 15 pars for the round. First-years Kate Lee (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and Allyson Duan (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) also played as individuals. Lee shot a 79 (+7) with a great birdie on the par-3 8th hole, while Duan came away with an 82 (+10). 

Day two kicks off tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM.
