SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College Golf team sits in
fifth place after the first day of competition at the 35th-annual
Mount Holyoke College Invitational. A total of 13 teams and 76
golfers are participating in the tournament, which is being hosted
by The Orchards Golf Club (par 72 – 5,880 yards).
Atop the leaderboard for Wellesley is senior Kim
Eaton. Her first-round score of 77 has her three
strokes behind the leader, Kristina Shalhoup of NYU, who shot a
day-one 74.
The Blue's Michelle
Cho had a strong first round with a score of 81,
putting her into a tie of 17th place. Her back nine round of 37 was
the low for Wellesley on day one.
Also for Wellesley, Alexandra
Fuiks sits tied for 21st with an 82 on day one,
while
Cassandra
Tavolarella is two strokes behind, shooting an
84. Alexis
Kelleher shot an 87 in her opening round, while
Lindsey
Shephardson shot a 97 in her collegiate debut.
The 2010 Mount Holyoke Invitational wraps up tomorrow.
