Lee Paces Wellesley Golf at Williams Fall Classic

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- First-year Alexandria Lee notched a 12th-place finish to pace the Wellesley College golf team in the final day of action at the Williams Fall Classic. The event, played at the par-71, 5,826-yard Taconic Golf Club, featured golfers from 11 schools.

Lee followed a fantastic day one score of 82, with a solid 87, to finish with a total of 169 for the tournament. Her 12th place finish marks the best finish for a Blue golfer in tournament play this season.

After Lee, junior Michelle Cho shot an 89 on day two to finish in 27th place with a total of 181. Sophomore Alexandra Fuiks was Wellesley's next highest finisher, taking 33rd place with a two-day total of 190. 

Also for the Blue, sophomore Lindsey Shephardson knocked nine strokes off of her day one score to end the tournament in 42nd place (197), while classmate Young Hsu notched a five-stroke improvement on day two, finishing 50th (213). 

In team scoring, Wellesley ranked eighth overall, ending the tournament with a score of 737.

Flora Weeks of Middlebury earned medalist honors, shooting an impressive 151, with round scores of 76 and 75. Host Williams captured the team title, as the Ephs finished with a total of 646.

Up next for the Blue, Wellesley will host the annual Ann S. Batchelder Invitational next Saturday and Sunday at Nehoiden Golf Club.
