HOWEY-in-the-HILLS, Fla. -- Due to heavy rains and winds, the 2011 NCAA Women's Golf Championship ended at the previously played three rounds. Wellesley golfer, Kim Eaton finished 49th overall. The event, held at the Mission Inn Resort in Florida, reverted to the third round scores, due to NCAA manual restructions.
Yesterday, Eaton fired a third-round 85 at +12 to move up to 49th place in the final standings. With rounds of 92, 82 and 85, her three-day total of 259 placed her 49th, up from 56th in the secound round.
Paige Caldwell of Methodist took home the individual title, though her 5 stroke advantage shrunk to only 3 after she posted a third round 79 (+6). Right on her heels was Centre's Emily Bachert, who finished, along with the Gusties Katie Schenfeld and Wisconsin – Eau Claire's Emily Swift, who carded the low round of the day with a 76 (+3).
The 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships were co-hosted by Oglethorpe University and the Central Florida Sports Commission.
