WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College golf team opened the 2011-12 campaign with a duel meet victory over visiting Merrimack College at the par-72, 5,860-yard Nehoiden Golf Course.
Wellesley ended the day with a total of 368, narrowly finishing in front of Merrimack's total of 370.
Individually, the Warriors had the top two scores of the afternoon, as Allie Reed earned medalist honors with an 83 (42-41). Lloyd Hoehle took second, with an 18-hole total of 86 (41-45).
Wellesley's top finisher was junior Michelle Cho, who shot the low-round of the day, a 40 on the front nine, compiling a total of 87. Cho was followed by sophomore Alexandra Fuiks who shot an 89 (45-44) and first-year Alexandria Lee who shot a 93 (48-45). Rounding out the team scoring for the Blue, junior Young Hsu shot a 100 (50-50) to seal the Wellesley victory.
Wellesley returns to action next weekend, competing in the two-day NYU Invitational.
