SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College golf team sits in 12th place after the first round of action at the 2011 Mount Holyoke Invitational. The event is being held at the par-72, 5,845-yard Orchards Golf Club.
Leading the way for Wellesley, first-year Alexandria Lee shot an 86 to tie for 30th place overall in the field of 78 golfers. Sophomore Alexandra Fuiks also had a strong day one, shooting an 89 to place her 46th.
Other competitors for the Blue included sophomore Lindsey Shephardson who shot a 94, junior Michelle Cho who recorded an 95 and first-year Michelle Brann shot a 110.
Overall, Wellesley combined to shoot a 364 to place the team 12th of 15 squads. The Blue are within 10 strokes of the 6th-11th place teams heading into tomorrow's round.
The Mount Holyoke Invitational continues tomorrow at 7:30am.
