Golf Wraps Play at Jack Leaman Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Wellesley College golf team wrapped up action at the Jack Leaman Championship this weekend at Amherst.  The event was held at The Orchards on Sunday, after yesterday's opening round at Amherst Golf Club.

Wellesley was paced by Alexandra Fuiks and Alexandria Lee who finished with scores of 186 and 191. Each shot a low of 92 on day one.

Also for the Blue, Lindsey Shephardson finished with a two-day score of 193 after carding a low of 94 on day one. Rounding out the Wellesley golfers at the event, Pim Chirathivat shot a 196, while Michelle Brann carded a 209.

Amherst's Laura Monty '12 took home the individual title by shooting a 75-79-154, leaving her one stroke ahead of her younger sister, Liz (78-77-155), and Williams College's Victoria Student (77-78-155).

The players weren't treated to the same warm weather they had on Saturday, as they battled colder temperatures and a light rain for a majority of Sunday's round. Only Ithaca, NYU and Mount Holyoke shot better on the second day, with Mount Holyoke seeing the biggest improvement (385-374-759).

Wellesley golf is back in action at the Williams Spring Invitational next Saturday.
