SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Wellesley College golf team finished 12th overall at the 2012 Mount Holyoke Invitational. The 15-team event took place at The Orchards Golf Club (par 72 – 5,845 yards) on September 22nd and 23rd. Williams won the event with a 647, followed by Merrimack (651), Wagner (651) and Middlebury (654).
Junior Alexandra Fuiks and sophomore Alexandria Lee both finished in a tie for 45th place at the tournament, each finishing with a 179. Fuiks shot an 89 on Saturday and a 90 on Sunday, while Lee shot a 96 on day two after a team-best 83 on the first day of play.
Tying for 56th place was first-year Bristol Gunderson, who carded a 91 on day two after a first day score of 93. Classmate Lei Wei and sophomore Michelle Brann rounded out the Wellesley golfers, with Wei shooting a pair of 95's to finish in a 66th place tie. Brann had a big day for the Blue on Sunday, shaving 19 strokes off her day one score with a 93 on Sunday, placing 76th with a 205.
Wellesley golf returns to action next weekend at the Williams Fall Invitational on October 6th and 7th.
