POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Wellesley College golf team had a solid day one, competing at the 2013 Liberty League Championship. The event is taking place at the par-72 5,805-yard Dutchess Golf Club as part of the Vassar Invitational.
With one day complete, the Blue are currently in fourth in the Liberty League Standings with a total of 365. NYU holds the lead with a 327, while Vassar is in second with a 343. St. Lawrence is just three strokes ahead of Wellesley for third place with a 362, while William Smith (405), Mount Holyoke (418), and Union (505) round out the Liberty League field.
Individually, Wellesley first-year Bristol Gunderson and sophomore Lindsey Shepardson each rank 29th overall to lead the team. They shot identical scores of 89 (44-45) on day one.
First-year Lei Wei is 36th overall after shooting a 92 (48-44), while Grace Park is 39th with a 95 (44-51). Sophomore Alexandria Lee rounds out the action for Wellesley with 102 (51-51).
The event wraps up on Sunday with another round of action.
