Wellesley Golf Closes Season at Williams Spring Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Wellesley College golf team closed the door on the 2012-13 season, competing at the two-day Williams Spring Invitational this weekend. The event was held at the par-71, 5,826-yard Taconic Golf Course. 

The Blue finished sixth overall in the seven-team event, while two Wellesley golfers finished in the top-20 individually. Wellesley ended with a two-day total of 730, combining rounds of 371 and 359. All five Wellesley golfers improved on day two, as the Blue shaved a total 12 strokes off their day one total. 

Individually, Wellesley first-year Grace Park ranked 14th overall at the event, turning in rounds of 89 and 84 to finish with a 173. Senior Michelle Cho finished second for the Blue, carding an 89 and an 88 to finish 17th with a 177. 

Sophomore Alexandria Lee and first-year Lei Wei tied for 30th overall. Lee improved by four strokes in her day two total, finishing with rounds of 97 and 93 for a 190, while Wei dropped two strokes on day two, to finish with scores of 96 and 94 for her 190. 

Rounding out the individuals for the Blue, senior Young Hsu ranked 35th overall. After a day one, 101, she improved by five strokes to finish with a 96 on day two, and a total of 197. 

This weekend's event marked the end of the season for the Blue. Wellesley had a solid first year in the Liberty League, including a fantastic third place finish for the team at the conference championship.
